This article explores theories of differentiation. It examines the effects of macro changes on agrarian differentiation in a coastal village in the Red River Delta, Northern Vietnam. It contributes to the debates about agrarian differentiation in post-socialist societies by arguing that changes in macro structures, accentuating income differences, alter the bases et mechanisms of differentiation, as well as the patterns of differentiation in places where the market economy has become more developed et are close to market centers. It suggests that only when attention is paid to local contexts et histories can local-level studies contribute to a better understeting of the causes et consequences of agrarian change.

This study was carried out to optimize the various approaches to analyze the effects of various variables on the total flavonoid content extraction from the roots of Helicteres hirsuta L. The existence of various compounds in the methanol fraction was accessed by using LC-MS/MS analysis. The results of the study identified the ideal parameters such as times (30 minutes); methanol solvent concentration (50%); ultrasonic frequency (12 Hz); and material/solvent ratio [1:30 (w/v)] for extracting the highest total flavonoids from the roots of H. Hirsuta. The study's results suggested that the total flavonoid value was 3.52684 (mg Catechin/g extract). The verified experiment obtained an actual value of 5.205 (mg Catechin/g extract). Further, the results of the study suggested the presence of 20 compounds of a flavonoid nature (66.667%) appearing in the purified methanol fractional extract. These compounds can inhibit DPPH free radicals at 50%, with an IC50 value of 536.760 g/mL, and they also have inhibitory activity on the growth of cancer cell lines with IC50 values ranging from 115.81 and 219.17g/mL. The human leukemia cell line (HL-60) exhibits the most significant cytotoxic response to a methanol extract from H. hirsuta root with an IC50 value of 115.81 g/mL

INFLUENCING FACTORS TO LOGISTICS CENTRE FORMATION – A STUDY OF VIETNAM-BASED LOGISTICS SECTOR

    Get PDF
Purpose of the study: The paper tries to model dynamic interactions of factors that contribute to the logistics center building. Conducting the desk review and expert consultation, the causality of the factors is systemized in a form of Causal Loop Diagram using the System Dynamics approach. Methodology: System Dynamics (SD) is an approach for studying interlinked behaviors within a system and reflects the interactions of feedback loops. Compared to other approaches, SD demonstrates the real world by using factors and stocks for components and feedback loops for inter-relationships among them. SD model qualitatively illustrates the causal relationship among factors that influence the building of the logistics center. Main Findings: A combination of four different sub-systems, using a questionnaire survey conducted with logistics service users and providers to sort out the high scored factors. Besides, the survey also helps to study the practical conditions and characteristics in showing the demand, the trend, and the development of logistics centers in Vietnam. Applications of this study: Logistics centers (LCs) can be considered as a depot for vehicles where drivers and managers of vehicles are supposed to maintain, repair vehicles, and adjust vehicle operation schedules. Novelty/Originality of this study: As defined by the scope of the project, the SD model provides a qualitative demonstration of the interaction among factors. The built model gives a systematic insight into how factors link to each other

Influence of Temperature And Concentration of Ethanol on Properties of Borosilicate Glass Photonic Crystal Fiber Infiltrated by Water – Ethanol Mixture

    Get PDF
In this paper, we present a numerical simulation of the properties of a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) made of borosilicate glass infiltrated by the water-ethanol mixture. We examine the influence of temperature and ethanol concentration for the refractive index, dispersion properties, effective mode area and confinement loss of the fundamental mode by a Lumerical simulation method. We also calculate the fundamental mode of the fiber infiltrated with a water-ethanol mixture with the concentration range of ethanol from 0% to 100% in the temperature range from 10°C to boiling point of ethanol. The results show that all fibers infiltrated with water-ethanol mixture have flat dispersion characteristics in the infrared range above 1.32. The best flatness exists for pure ethanol. Furthermore, it is possible to shift the zero-dispersion wavelength and modify fundamental properties of PCFs by both temperature and concentration of ethanol. The results obtained are important because of that we not only use their reasonable parameters for the design and manufacture but also use them in nonlinear phenomena and nonlinear applications of fibers as supercontinuum generation

The two mangrove species Kandelia obovata and Sonneratia caseolaris were widely planted in the Red River delta. Both K. obovata and S. caseolaris forests play an important role in the economic development and environmental protection of the delta. However, chemical responses of the common mangrove forests to different ecological conditions in the delta have not yet been described. In this study, we evaluated chemical responses of K. obovata and S. caseolaris through comparisons of the content of metabolites and element ions in leaves of mangrove plants located under different ecological conditions in the Red River delta. In the low salinity area (Thuy Truong), specific leaf areas of K. obovata and S. caseolaris were much lower while the succulent index was higher compared to those in the high salinity area (Kim Trung). In Kim Trung, both species had a lower ratio of chlorophyll a/chlorophyll b. K. obvata in lower light (under the S. caseolaris canopy) had lower levels of chlorophyll b, resulting in a higher Chla/chlb ratio. There was no difference in the Mg content of leaves between two areas. An increase in Na content in leaves of mangrove plants in the higher salinity area was evident. The high K/Na ratio in leaves were eveluated for both species in high salinity areas. Our results also showed better uptake of K in leaves of S. caseolaris growing in the low salinity conditions (Thuy Truong), i.e. Thuy Truong has more favourable ecological conditions for S. caseolaris. Carotenoid contents in leaves of both species growing in the higher salinity were lower.
